Global cotton ending stocks for 2024/25 dropped 3.8% to 15.37 million tonnes — the lowest since 2011/12 — mainly because China cut imports by 65% and its stocks fell 9% to the lowest level since 2012/13. Outside China, stocks rose slightly, led by the US, Brazil and West Africa. For 2025/26, production is expected to climb to 25.4 million tonnes on better yields while consumption edges down to 25 million tonnes amid weak textile demand; trade is forecast to rebound 4% to 9.8 million tonnes, helped by stronger Chinese buying and new partnerships. The US farm price for 2025/26 is projected at 65 US cents per pound.
South Africa’s tax base is extremely narrow and concentrated: just 978,140 individuals (about 1.5% of the population) pay 60.6% of all personal income tax, contributing R442 billion annually. Together with the next tier (3.5 million people earning R250,000–R750,000), the top 6% of taxpayers fund 95% of personal income tax — the single largest revenue source at nearly 40% of total government income (R729.9 billion).Overall, personal and corporate income tax make up 57% of state revenue (over R1 trillion). SARS has performed remarkably by collecting more tax than GDP growth would suggest (tax buoyancy >1.5%), largely by closing an estimated R800 billion tax gap.

Farming isn’t your typical 9-to-5 gig. It’s a lifestyle that demands early mornings, late nights, and plenty of time operating machinery or walking the land. That’s where Audiocast shine. They’re hands-free, portable, and don’t care if you’re covered in dirt or steering through a muddy field. Unlike a book or a video, a Audiocast doesn’t ask you to stop what you’re doing—it joins you in the cab, the shed, or wherever the day takes you. And farmers are listening. Surveys suggest that a significant chunk of the agricultural community—some estimates say over a third—tune into ag-related podcasts regularly. Whether it’s catching up on market trends, learning about the latest in soil health, or just hearing a good story from another grower, these audio shows have become a go-to resource.
