Rainfall delayed exports, and juice prices have fallen from 2024 highs. The achievement underscores South Africa’s growing role as a leading apple exporter in the Southern Hemisphere.

They may be feeling excited that they left the country, that they’ve got somebody like President (Donald) Trump,” Ramaphosa said at an impromptu press briefing at the annual Nampo harvest festival near the Free State town of Bothaville. CRA MEDIA - Actions speak louder than words. So, focus on winning through your actions rather than trying to win an argument. You need to think long-term if you want to maintain power. Consider all the possible outcomes of your actions and plan accordingly. Don’t accept things that people give to you for free. People will think they have power over you if you do. You won’t be able to exert your authority as easily.

Suid-Afrika se handelstoestande het veerkragtigheid getoon in Maart en April, ondanks ekonomiese druk. South Africa’s agricultural sector faces an uneven recovery in 2025, with varied challenges across value chains and regions. While optimism persists, financial recovery will be slow for summer grains and oilseeds due to the 2024 mid-summer drought and excessive April 2025 rains, which damaged crop quality in some areas.
The Namibian Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) has announced the 2025 hunting season for huntable game and game birds, specifying periods and conditions for regulated hunting on registered conservancies and qualifying commercial farms.
The South African citrus industry, a global leader in agricultural exports, faces challenges from EU phytosanitary regulations on Citrus Black Spot (CBS) and False Codling Moth (FCM). These rules, driven partly by Spanish market pressures, are seen by South African producers as scientifically questionable and economically restrictive non-tariff trade barriers.
CBOT soybean prices soar on temporary truce in the U.S.-China trade war. Maize -CBOT corn prices decreased in mid-May on the back of good planting progress for the U.S, coupled with the increased projected corn production for the country’s 2025/26 season.

South Africa’s avocado industry is continuing to grow its market share and has shipped its first produce for the season to Shanghai for a second year in a row after signing an agreement with China.
At NAMPO 2025, Nedbank futures specialist Shane Naidoo addressed the need for resilience among farmers and financiers to counter volatility in the export market, particularly due to potential 30% US tariffs under the Trump administration, currently paused until mid-June. Naidoo highlighted that tariffs erode export margins, urging diversification to reduce reliance on markets like the US.
